The architect Alessandro Antonelli was given the responsibility of constructing the Mole Antonelliana by the Jewish community of Turin, who wanted to celebrate their right to religious freedom with this synagogue. Building work began in 1863, but was very soon interrupted because of rising costs. The town hall eventually completed the 167.5 metre-tall building, which rapidly became a distinctive landmark. It is also one of the most imposing stone constructions in all Europe. From the very top, you'll be able to marvel at all Turin, and in fine weather you'll have a magnificent view over the Alps. The Mole Antonelliana is now also home to the Cinema Museum.
